3-days First Tripura Krishi Unnati Mela Concluded at ICAR Tripura.

Agartala, Mar 03, 2019: First Tripura Krishi Unnati Mela 2019 (TKUM 2019) inaugurated on Mar 1, 2019 by His Excellency the Governor of Tripura Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki concluded today at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Lembucherra. More than 3000 farmers from all the districts of the state have participated in mela. The mela comprised of exhibitions, farmers scientist interaction, Fish festival, expert talk etc. The program was attended by farmers and other stakeholders including Department of Horticulture, Fisheries, Spice Board, College of Fisheries, College of Agriculture, KVKs, NGO, private entrepreneurs and many others. Hon’ble Minister for Revenue and Fisheries Shri N C Debbarma was the chief guest and Dr P K Pandey was Guest of Honour in valedictory function. In his welcome address Dr B K Kandpal, Joint Director of the center has briefed about different activities organized during last 3 days in Krishi Unnait Mela. Dr P K Pandey, Dean College of Fisheries has emphasized on scientific fish farming for livelihood improvement of small and marginal farmers of the state. Sri N C Debbarma in his address appreciated the effort of ICAR for organizing and other organization for actively supporting first Tripura Krishi Unnati Mela for the benefit of the farmers of the state. He emphasized on multiple cropping and diversified integrated farming including crop, horticulture, livestock and fisheries for food, nutritional security and doubling the farmers’ income. He urged farmers of the state to adopt improved technologies developed by ICAR and other organization to fulfill the vision of honorable Prime Minister to double the farmers’ income by 2022. Hon’ble minister promised to extend all support from state Govt for the same. Chief Guest also felicitated the winners of Innovative fish farmers and exhibition stalls in various categories. The valedictory program came to an end with the vote of thanks offered by Dr Anup Das, Principal Scientist and organizing secretary of TKUM 2019.
